Almost 50 per cent of London Pupils in London have received home tuition, according to a survey carried out by the Sutton Trust.

Statistics indicate that pupils in the capital are twice as likely as those in the rest of the UK to have extra tutoring the Ipsos Mori Poll of 2,488 pupils aged 11-16 shows.

Home Tuition has increased by almost a third in the capital , from 18 per cent in 2005 to 25 per cent this year. However, home tuition in London has remained significantly higher than other regions.

Sir Petrr Lampl, chairman of the Sutton Trust said ” The fact that (private tutoring is) predominantly used to help children do well in a specific test or exam means that those who can afford it are able to give their children a significnt advantage over those that cannot”.
